Military Veterans & Guest "Giving Back"

It's that time again folks!! Since 2011 Fin Addict Angler has supported fishing events honoring our Military Veterans. In 2017, we started the "Fin Addict Military Vets on the Water" at Calaveras Lake. This free event is for our military veterans and their dependents, these men and women are taken out on the water by a team of volunteer boat captains for a day of fishing and camaraderie. After all that fun, The Lone Star Grillers volunteer to prepare a hearty Texas Barbecue with all the fixings in honor of our Military Veterans.

This is an awesome time devoted to giving back to those who served our country!

To make this happen, we need boat captains, some volunteers, and donations. Fin Addict Angler Volunteers lead several assistant volunteers to provide a fishing activity- either backyard bass casting, a stewardship activity (trash timeline) or habitat mat activity. Groups of 15-20 4th grade students will rotate though event stations every 15 minutes.

This is a Painting with a Purpose-Adults Only class donating 75% of its proceeds to the Fin Addict Angler Foundation.   Kari, the instructor for the class is absolutely incredible! This studio offers easy-to-follow painting classes for everyone to enjoy a fun relaxing evening with great people and leave with an awesome piece of art work! The Fin Addict Angler Foundation will be hosting an on-site private fishing clinic at Breckenridge Park for the San Antonio Home school Ninjas.  The Fin Addict Angler Foundation support home schools by offering supervised instructional angler education while emphasizing the importance of protection and conservation of our natural and aquatic resources.

Fin Addict Angler Foundation is partnering with the San Antonio River Authority to provide a "free to the public" youth fishing clinic from ages 5 to 17.  All equipment will be provided for the event. Fin Addict Instructors and volunteers will educate the youth on the basics of fishing through fun methods making this event full of excitement! We encourage you to wear comfortable clothing and have plenty of sun protection. Adults must accompany children. Floresville volunteers and teens ages 14 or older who want to support their community and others by volunteering or need community hours for school are welcome to apply online to volunteer@finaddictangler.org.  Donations are needed and welcomed.
