10th Annual Kayak Tournament 2021

Fin Addict Kayakers! Welcome everyone to a one day fishing tournament benefiting the Fin Addict Angler Foundation to continue it's mission in providing angler education to the youth. Please read our COVID-19 letter in response to our efforts to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

About The Event

The Fin Addict Angler Kayak Tournament fundraiser promotes a spirit of friendly competition while participants enjoy the sport of fishing with family and friends and make some special memories.



This tournament is open to the public. Each participant must complete a registration form and a Covid questionaire to enter. The registration form can be submitted online or in person and the entry fee must be paid prior to the event.


Early registration is strongly encouraged. As a bonus, participants pre-registered by September 15, 2021 will receive a limited edition tournament t-shirt (only while supplies last). Registration is available on the evening of Sept 24th and the day of  the tournament. Note: If you register in-person the day of the tournament, the entry fee must be paid in cash - no other payment methods will be accepted.

Registration Fee: 

The registration fee (per person) is based on the division you enter: $55 Open / $50 Women's / Youth 16 years of age and under free. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times in order to participate. Registration fee for the Open Division and Women's Division includes entry to all side pots. Youth Division is not elligible for side-pot entry.

Pre-Fish Meeting:

There will be an informal Facebook Live Anglers meeting on September 24, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. to go over the tournament rules and guidelines. Fin Addict Fishing Tournaments will be the Facebook host for the Live Anglers meeting.

COVID-19 Safety Measures

In the acceptance of change to the new normal of Safety First, we are adhering to the guidelines of Bexar County. Please use face mask in gatherings outside of your immediate household. Social distancing is strongly encouraged during our activities. For the safety of all anglers and our communities we will have you to complete a basic questionnaire prior to participation. Please read our COVID-19 letter.

Tournament Times: 

You must check-in at tournament table to confirm your registration and complete the Covid questionaire before you begin fishing regardless of your arrival time. Anglers can begin fishing at 8:00 a.m. and will submit their fish no later than 2:30 p.m. Fish caught before 8:00 a.m. or submitted after 2:30 p.m. will not be eligible for judging. In order for a fish to be eligible for judging, it must be submitted by 2:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at the event and on the Fin Addict Angler website the week following the tournament.

Tackle & Fishing Equipment: 

Live, dead and artificial bait will be permitted. Each angler will be allowed to have and use two fishing poles at a time. Please use fishing poles or cane poles in this tournament - no nets or traps or any other method may be used in this tournament. You must bring your own fishing gear, bait etc. No downrigging. 

Fishing Location: 

Participants must be fishing in a kayak in the water of Calaveras Lake.  For park fees and park rules check or call (210)635-8359. All participants must wear a personal floatation device. Children must wear a life jacket while on the water.

Fishing Laws: 

This tournament will adhere to all State (TPWD) fishing rules. For TPWD rules, visit TPWD's Calaveras Lake website. Fish must be legal (size, species, etc) in order to be eligible for judging.


Heaviest Single Redfish (minimual length 20 inches)

All legal fish must be brought to the judges table. You must be in line by 2:30 p.m. with your fish to be eligible for tournament judging. All judges' decisions are final. An incentive of .25lb will be added for every live fish turned in. There will be no deduction for dead fish that are turned in. In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will be determined by the first fish submitted.

FAAF Check-it stick will be the official ruler used for measuring.

$$$- Single Red Fish with the most spots on one side (minimual 20 inches)

Weigh Master has final decision.

Prize / Awards: 

Winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 10th place prizes TBD) will be announced after judging has concluded. Important "Youth Division" Tournament winners are awarded items of nominal value (no cash prizes).

Anglers that are pre-registered by September 16, 2021 will receive a free limited edition tournament shirt. It is the participants responsibility to pick up their angler packet containing the tournament shirt. If you decide not to attend the in person weigh-in, please contact by 10/2/21 to schedule your angler packet pick up time at the Foundation Office.

  • 7:00 p.m. - Facebook Live Anglers meeting and registration

Sept. 25th

  • 6:00 a.m. - Check-in begins
  • 8:00 a.m. - Tournament begins
  • 2:30 p.m. - Tournament ends (fish must be submitted for judging by 2:30 pm)
  • Tournament and raffle winners to be announced
