About The Event

The Fin Addict Angler Boat Tournament fundraiser promotes a spirit of friendly competition among family and friends casting special memories. Each year this benefit aims to raise money to increase community programming in under-served communities. In its 8th-year existence, Fin Addict has gone on to host numerous events monthly, impacting nearly hundreds local youth residents through public family and friends fishing events and after-school programs.

Team Qualifications:

This tournament is open to the public. Each team must have one person who is 18 years of age or older. There can be up to 4 people max including kids per boat. Sign-up your boat with a team name. One person is needed to sign-up all team members with shirt size. Each team member will need to sign in on the day of the tournament. Signatures certifies information to be true, photo/video release, and the release of all event contestants, host, tournament officials from all claims of injury or damage in connection with the tournament.

COVID-19 Safety Measures:

In the acceptance of change to the new normal of Safety First, we are adhering to the guidelines of Bexar County. Use good hand washing, application of face mask encouraged in gatherings outside of your immediate household and social distancing is encouraged during our activities.


Early online registration is strongly encouraged.  Last chance-sign-up is on tournament morning (cash only). 

 As a bonus, teams pre-registered by May 24th will receive a limited edition tournament t-shirt for every present registered participant (only while supplies last). If your team registers in-person the day of the tournament, the entry fee must be paid in cash - no other payment methods will be accepted.

Registration Fee:

The registration fee is $150 (includes processing/card fee) per boat (up to 4 people max including kids per boat).

Pre-Fish Meeting:

There will be an informal Facebook Live Anglers meeting on May 31st at 7:00 p.m. to go over the tournament rules and guidelines. Fin Addict Fishing Tournaments will be the Facebook host for the Live Anglers meeting.

Captain's Meeting

One person from each team must meet the morning of the tournament at 7:30am.


6:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.   Each angler fishing in the event must check-in at the tournament table prior to fishing to confirm your team's registration before you begin fishing regardless of your arrival time.

Tournament Times:

Teams can begin fishing at 7:45 a.m. and will submit their fish no later than 2:45 p.m. Fish caught before 7:45 a.m. or submitted after 2:45 p.m. will not be eligible for judging. In order for a fish to be eligible for judging, it must be submitted by the deadline.

Tackle & Fishing Equipment:

Live, dead and artificial bait will be permitted. Each boat will be allowed to have and use up to eight poles at a time. Please use fishing poles or cane poles in this tournament - no nets or traps or any other method may be used in this tournament. No down rigging! No jug line! You must bring your own fishing gear, bait etc.

Fishing Location:

For this tournament teams will be allowed to fish by personal watercraft in the water of Calaveras Lake. For park fees and park rules check or call (210)635-8359.

Fishing Laws:

This tournament will adhere to all State [TPWD/Park]  fishing rules. For TPWD rules, visit the TPWD website. Fish size must be legal in order to be eligible for judging. Children should wear a life jacket while in the boat.


6 fish stringer - up to 3 redfish and 3 catfish per boat, all by weight

All legal fish must be brought to the judge's table. You must be in line by 2:45 p.m. with your fish to be eligible for tournament judging. All judges' decisions are final.


Winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd TBD) will be announced after judging has concluded.Winners will be announced at the event and on the Fin Addict Angler Website the week following the tournament.

Friday, May 31

  • 7:00 p.m. - Facebook Live Tournament rules and guidelines

Saturday, June 1st

  • 6:00 a.m. - check-in begins
  • 8:00 a.m. - check-in ends
  • 7:30 a.m. - captains meeting
  • 7:45 a.m. - tournament begins
  • 2:45 p.m. - tournament ends (fish must be submitted for judging by 2:45 p.m)
  • TBD p.m. - tournament and raffle winners announced

Date may be subject to change due to any unfavorable conditions prohibiting fishing activities . All entry fees will roll over to the new date. No refunds. All funds benefit the Fin Addict Angler Foundation in its mission to provide angler education through creative fishing clinics and programs.
