About The Event

The Fin Addict Angler Kayak Tournament fundraiser promotes a spirit of friendly competition while participants enjoy the sport of fishing with family and friends and make some special memories.

Tournament Rules

Participation: This tournament is open to the public. A registration form can be submitted online and the entry fee paid prior to the event.

Registration: Early registration is strongly encouraged. As a bonus, participants pre-registered by September 16, 2020 will receive a limited edition tournament t-shirt (only while supplies last)!

Registration is available on the evening of Sept 25th and the day of  the tournament. Note: If you register in-person the day of the tournament, the entry fee must be paid in cash - no other payment methods will be accepted.

Registration Fee: The registration fee (per person) is based on the division you enter: $65 Open / $55 Women's / Youth 16 years of age and under free. All minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times in order to participate. Registration fee for the Open Division and Women's Division includes entry to all side pots. Youth Division is not elligible for side-pot entry.

Check-In: There will be an informal Facebook Live Anglers meeting on September 25, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. to go over the tournament rules and guidelines. Fin Addict Fishing Tournaments will be the Facebook host for the Live Anglers meeting.

Covid-19: Covid-19 questionnaire, mask and social distancing will be required and enforced during any Fin Addict Angler Foundation gathering, including the tournament weigh-in event. Any person that does not comply will be automatically disqualified.

Tournament Times: Tournament start time will be announced during the Facebook Live Anglers meeting on September 25th. Anglers can submit their fish at Living Reel Salty Tackle & Bait beginning at 2:00 p.m. and will close at 5:00 p.m.

Fish caught before start time on September 26th or submitted after 5:00 pm will not be eligible for judging. In order for a fish to be eligible for judging, it must be in the Covid-19 check-in line by 5:00 pm. Winners will be announced at the event and on the Fin Addict Angler website the week following the tournament.

Tackle & Fishing Equipment: Live, dead and artificial bait will be permitted. Each angler will be allowed to have and use two fishing poles at a time. Please use fishing poles in this tournament - no nets or traps or any other method may be used in this tournament. You must bring your own fishing gear, bait etc.

Fishing Location: For this tournament, anglers will be allowed to fish via Kayak only in any public waters along the Coastal Bend. Kayaks must be launched at a public launch accessible to the general public. You may not launch from private property (including your personal water front property), or any other place that requires "special permission". This is an inshore tournament only, you may not fish the surf, jetty's or any beach front. Contestants may not fish areas designated as private or "off limits" by federal, state and/or local law. Off limit areas include all FEDERALLY PROTECTED AREAS. If you drag, float or are around a weir, dam or barrier to gain access to an off-limit area, you will be disqualified. You may drag over public land in a marsh lake area to access the same public areas. Contestants shall not fish in any area which has been "closed" by a  governmental agency. Participants must be fishing in a Kayak, wade fishing is allowed, but all contestants must stay tethered to their kayak while wading. Paddle or peddle only, no gas or electric motors. No mother-shipping. All participants must wear a personal floatation device. Children must wear a life jacket while on the water.

Fishing Laws: This tournament will adhere to all State (TPWD) fishing rules. For TPWD rules, visit TPWD's website. Fish must be legal (size, species, etc) in order to be eligible for judging.

Judging: Tournament judging is as follows:

5 Fish Limit:

  • 1 Redfish
  • 2 Trout
  • 1 Gafftop
  • 1 Flounder

Partcicpant must choose to place red fish or trout in their tournament stringer or side-pot.

STRINGER: 1 RED (20-28 inches), 2 TROUT (16-25 inches)

'All fish by weight'

An incentive of .25lb will be added for every live fish turned in.

There will be no deduction for dead fish that are turned in.

In the event of a tie, the tie breaker will be determined by the first fish submitted.

FAAF Check-it stick will be the official ruler used for measuring.

Side Pots:

Side-pot fish may not be included in the tournament stringer.

$$$ - Heaviest Trout (16-25 inches)

Prize- Red Fish with the most spots on one side (20-28 in)

Prize - Heavist Legal Flounder

Prize - Heaviest Legal Gafftop

Weigh Master has final decision.

All legal fish must be brought to the judge's table. You must be in the Covid-19 check-in line by 5:00 p.m. with your fish to be elegible for torunament judging. All judge's decisions are final.

Prize / Awards: Winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 10th place prizes TBD) will be announced after judging has concluded. Important "Youth Division" Tournament winners are awarded items of nominal value (no cash prizes).

Anglers that are pre-registered by September 16, 2020 will receive a free limited edition tournament shirt. It is the participants responsibility to pick up their angler packet containing the tournament shirt. If you decide not to attend the in person weigh-in, please contact info@finaddictangler.org by 9/30/20 to schedule your angler packet pick up time at the Foundation Office.

  • Tournament Winners announced shortly after.
