About The Event
It's that time again folks!! November is the month designated to honor our country's veterans. This awesome time is our opportunity in giving-back to show support and appreciation to those who courageously and bravely served to protect our country! For those not familiar with the event, it happens at Calaveras Lake. Boat owners volunteer their boat, fishing equipment and take our veterans and their guests for a morning of fishing and fun. After all that fun, our veterans and their guest will have lunch provided by the Lone Star Grillers.
Fishing is a huge outlet to escape reality for a bit and to de-stress from stressful returns that many veterans experience in their transition to civilian life. Focusing and finding the rhythm of fishing helps to bring peace of mind to many who are struggling with their life in the present. Veterans do not need to know how to fish. First timers are definitely welcomed. TPWD Angler Instructors and boat captains will be available to educate participants on angling.
To make this happen, we need volunteer boat owners with their boats, volunteers, and monetary/product donations. To donate for expenses please contact Rosemary at info@finaddictangler.org To volunteer as a Boat Captain/Boat Owner please contact (Oscar) Shimano Penn at Oscar@finaddictangler.org or 210-643-3396. To register as a veteran, complete the registration form to get on the list. Guest limit to 1. Please indicate if your guest is a veteran.
Calavera’s Park opens at 6am and check-in is from 7am to 8am. Boats depart at 8am and fish till 12 noon. Lunch will be provided from 12:00pm to 1:00pm. Veterans, please indicate t-shirt sizes for you and your guests who are also veterans if t-shirts become available.
With the help of volunteers, and volunteer boat captains we are able to host over 60 veterans with their guest. Sponsors and donations are needed to cover operational expenses including park fees and tokens of appreciation.
We, the Fin Addict Angler Foundation Team recognize the value of our volunteers in leading and supporting our mission to bring people together to enjoy one of life’s oldest greatest sport...fishing!
We welcome all the help we can get on this one. Thank you
